She joined the team in 2014 with a focus on community outreach and recruitment of caregivers and clients. She has a background in law, psychiatric nursing and substance abuse treatment. She was born and educated in the UK but has been living in the USA for many years now.
Sue was also instrumental in establishing the not for profit “Shoreline Village CT” as a resource for seniors on the shoreline. Her extensive background in local community work includes 6 years as an elected member on Branford’s Board of Education. Sue is married and has three children, two of whom are in college.
She enjoys travel, reading, art museums, photography and both cooking and eating.
Ed has served as Executive Director of Continuum of Care, Inc., New Samaritan Community Residences, Inc., and TRADES, Inc. (Teen Rehabilitation and Development, an Experimental School), Program Developer for the town of North Haven, where he planned, organized and directed numerous social service programs. His personal experience as a family caregiver compelled him to create No Place Like Home-Care® in 2002.
Ed’s hobbies include breeding Labradoodle puppies, singing and drumming. Before her retirement, Ed’s Labradoodle, Amber, was a certified Pet Partners dog, regularly visiting YNHH and adult day cares as a therapy dog. She now spends her time teaching and training her daughter, River.
She is a retired nurse with experience in cardiac care, emergency care of adults and children, obstetrics, post-partum and newborn care. Martha has a master’s degree in Nursing Administration and has been an assistant nursing coordinator, a charge nurse, telemetry supervisor, officer in many non-profits and an administrator for her husband’s consulting business. Having come from a large extended family with many older relatives, current elderly immediate family members are an important part of Martha’s life. She has provided live-in care for her mother-in-law with dementia and cares for her parents long distantly with her siblings.
Martha likes to cook and bake, garden, read, travel, bicycle, take walks, and spend time with family and friends. She and her husband have raised two sons in Connecticut with one back at home and working after graduating from UCONN. Their second son attends college in the South where Martha grew up.
Martha has traveled extensively across the US and through Europe. In addition, she has visited Costa Rica and the Bahamas.
Being a part of a religious community has always been very important to Martha who is currently head of spiritual education at her church.
She began her career in Retail Management and then worked as a Legal Secretary. This was followed by 18 years of what she regards as her “greatest adventure”, being a stay at home grandmother and caretaker for her 4 grandchildren, cherishing the quality time she spent with them.
In 2013 Sue returned to the work force as a caregiver with No Place Like Home-Care®. She provided personal care, as well as homemaking and companion services to her clients, which she found extremely rewarding. Then, in 2015 Sue was offered a position in the No Place Like Home-Care® office and made the successful transition to Staffing Coordinator. Her former work in customer service and customer relations is extensive and has afforded her the tools needed to provide the service and attention our clients deserve.
Now that Sue’s grandchildren are older, she has time to enjoy many hobbies, such as arts and crafts, floral arranging and traveling with her husband of over 40 years, Domenic, on their Harley Davidson.
Most recently, she served as the General Manager of Pavilion Publishers LLC, in Guilford where she reported directly to the Owner and assisted him in establishing his new business. Prior to Pavilion, Laura was employed by Jeffrey Norton Publishers Inc., for over 25 years. Her many responsibilities included all financial records and reports, audits, cash management, budgets, payroll, administration of employee benefits, sales, customer service, and property management. She received her training at Northeastern University, Boston and Middlesex Community College.
Laura has been married to her husband, Ron, for 37 years. They have two grown daughters. Laura’s hobbies include reading, gardening, golf and caring for their two dogs, Gaby a Papillon, and Fibi, a Pomeranian.
